Hacks That Will Keep Your Keyboard Clean All Year Round

7

Ah, the keyboard – a great piece of technology, but impossible to keep clean. Over the years, many gamers and PC users have tried, but many have also failed. The problem is that it’s a magnet for dust and dirt. And, once it starts to build up, it’s hard to get rid of because there are so many cracks and crevices. If you are tired of trying to clean your keyboard without any success, the following tips may be of some use.

Use Compressed Air

As the name suggests, this is just air that is pressurized so that it comes at out the can at force. And, the great thing is that it won’t do any damage to your keyboard. All you have to do is aim it at the worst areas and spray. The air should knock all of the dust and dirt right out from underneath the keystrokes and leave it looking as good as new. Give it a couple of blasts for the best results.

Microfiber Cloth

Instead of using a piece of wet tissue, use a cloth that is designed to pick up more dirt and grime. A microfiber cloth is such a cloth. When you use one of these, you will clean much more of the surface area than when you use the corner of your t-shirt. In fact, if you do it a couple of times a week, you won’t have to worry about having a dirty keyboard ever again.

Use Sticky Surfaces

One tip that you want to remember is to use sticky surfaces to pick up dirt. The abrasive surface plucks the dirt right out of it hiding place, leaving your board much cleaner and hygienic. And, you don’t have to look far to find a cleaning product that matches this description. Post-Its are perfect for the job as they are small and sticky. Plus, every house has Post-Its lying around next to the computer.

Clean On A Regular Basis

Cleaning on a regular basis is a great tip if you want to save money. Lots of people like to change tack when they can’t keep their keyboard clean because they think it will work. For example, you may change from mechanical keyboards to membrane ones. Membrane keyboards are not as well-built, which means they don’t last as long even if they are cheaper. Plus, mechanical ones are more effective. By cleaning it once every day, you don’t have to waste money on a fancy keyboard. You can keep the same one for ages.

Buy A New One

If your keyboard is beyond repair, throw it in the rubbish. Sometimes, it’s easier to buy a new one than it is to try and fix an old one. Okay, it may cost you more money, but it’s never going to break the bank. Plus, you get a blank slate to start over again. As long as you follow the tips above, you won’t have to throw a keyboard out again.

Finally, stop eating while you are on the computer!
