With recent US crack downs on illegal music sharing websites, and lots of talk about the (US) SOPA, the UK’s SOCA (Serious Organised Crime Agency) have taken control of RNBxclusive.com, later in February, for committing crimes that fall under UK ‘fraud’ laws. SOCA also displayed a message on the site stating that any IP addresses accessing the site were potentially committing a criminal offence, which carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment and an unlimited fine under UK law. SOCA have now removed the below message and are continuing to investigate, and are also targeting international users who could face extradition to the UK.
The US took down MegaUpload.com only months earlier. Now the UK has shown they can take down sites just as easily.
