Essential iPhone Apps You Need For A Road Trip In Your BMW

I love BMW cars. Whilst the reputation of some BMW drivers can often have negative connotations, the cars themselves are known for being stylish, technologically-advanced, spacious, reliable and luxurious.

Gone are the days where BMW cars were aimed solely at business executives, because today they are aimed at people from all walks of life. The German car manufacturer has models that can serve any number of lifestyle requirements, and the best part? You don’t need to sell an arm and a leg to buy one!

Whilst BMW cars are typically used for commuting to and from work, they are equally as used for leisure purposes. If you own a BMW and you are planning a road trip somewhere soon, you should download and install these awesome iPhone apps before you go!

You can thank me later!

Google Maps

Even though many BMW cars have built-in satellite navigation, there is still a significant number of models that do not. Rather than spending money on buying a separate satellite navigation device that you will have to take the time to set up, you could just download and install the free and very useful Google Maps app!

It offers turn-by-turn instructions just like the desktop version does. And if you have got a Google account (it’s free to set up), you can plan your routes at home on your computer and retrieve them later on your iPhone as long as you are signed into your Google account on both systems!

Spotify Music

When you get bored of hearing your BMW’s awesome engine note, you will doubtless want to listen to your favourite songs in the car. But instead of lugging around dozens of CDs, you could play your favourite tunes the 21st-century way by using the Spotify Music app!

Spotify provides access to hundreds of thousands of different tracks, so you will be sure to find the albums and tracks that you want to sing along to whilst you are cruising in your Beemer!

AroundMe

As recommended by Big Motoring World BMW, the AroundMe app is an awesome location-based service that can tell you where the nearest amenities are, such as cafes, restaurants, ATMs, petrol stations, car parks, hospitals and more!

I have personally used this app many a time whenever I have travelled somewhere unfamiliar, and it has never let me down! The only thing that I would point out is that this app is ad-supported, but you can always pay a small fee to upgrade to an ad-free version if it bugs you too much.

My BMW Remote

5

One of the coolest things you can do with your Apple iPhone is remotely control certain aspects of your BMW!

For example, if you park somewhere and it becomes dark by the time you return to your car, you can use the app to flash the headlights, so you know where it is. Alternatively, if you often forget where you park (as I do), you can determine your BMW’s location using the Vehicle Position tool.

Download the My BMW Remote app from the App Store (it’s free).
