Features don’t seem to arrive on a Windows 10 mobile device until quite a while after the competing and leading manufactures release them. However, great news for Windows phone fans; the fingerprint scanning technology will be coming to Microsoft’s future smartphones.

Revealed on Reddit, it can be confirmed that this new feature will be arriving this summer. Windows Hello, part of an upcoming anniversary update, will also enable users to unlock their smartphone using facial recognition.

The first phone to receive this feature will be the HP Elite EX, however, many handsets won’t receive this new feature. It seems as though fingerprint scanning will be a feature for future phone releases opposed to those already released with the capability.

Whilst slow to achieve a feature already available for sometime on competitor smartphones, this can only come as welcome news for fans of Windows Phones. As the old saying goes: better late than never.
